Monty Roberts Certified Courses

As a Monty Roberts Certified Instructor, the first in Africa, Simon is part of an elite team that is qualified by Monty Roberts to teach his internationally recognized Horsemanship Courses. Including Horsemanship 101, Join-Up, Monty’s Long Lining and the Introductory Course of Horsemanship (both the full course and modular option).

“The most important piece of equipment in horse training are the hands that hold it.” ~ Monty Roberts

Why Choose Monty Roberts?

The Monty Roberts courses are unique as the primary focus of our curriculum is on equine psychology and behaviour, with practical work focusing on ground manners and horsemanship skills (rather than riding skills). Students develop a solid understanding of what motivates and influences equine behaviour in order to increase their effectiveness in any discipline of riding, veterinary assisting, shoeing, racehorse training, equine assisted learning and other equine fields.

Developing these essential horsemanship skills will help you to maintain clear, concise and consistent daily interactions with your horse, helping you to build a willing partnership based on trust. And in turn, you will have a happier, more well-mannered, more cooperative horse – both on the ground and under-saddle.

Monty Roberts Introductory Course

The Monty Roberts Introductory Course of Horsemanship is the first step to gaining an in-depth understanding of Monty Roberts’ concepts. The course is suitable for students of any age, and all levels of equine experience (your instructor will pair you with horses and tasks suited to your abilities). However, as it is a 2-week, intensive course, for those with little or no horse knowledge, we recommend prior participation in a Horsemanship 101 Clinic.
